Lhasa Apso Dogs for sale in Lancashire

I do occasionally have Lhasa Apso puppies for sale.

I only breed for my own enjoyment so one litter a

 year  is normal for me.

My lhasa puppies grow up in the home and I do make         sure that they are well socialised with other dogs, cats, children and an assortment of visitors....both large and small!!!

My pups are bred and sold to 'PET' homes only.  If you are looking to show or breed please look somewhere else.

I will supply a pedigree and registration certificate as well as full instructions on feeding and basic house training your puppy. Your new little friend will also have a bag of puppy food.  I do not supply insurance but strongly advise buyers to insure their pups.

Paper training your puppy will already have been done.

Why Buy a Lhasa Apso puppy?

Well here is my story.....

When I was young my family bred Cocker Spaniels, my mum also bred and trained Working Labradors, in fact she still does.  So my life has been dogs, dogs and more dogs since I can remember!

I grew up helping out with the exercising, mating and whelping and became fascinated with the whole scenario.

When I left home the first thing I missed, of course, was the fact that there where no dogs in my life.  However, without the space and acreage I was used to I needed to find a cute little dog that would answer all my requirements.

I live with my young son and am a part-time Practice nurse, so I looked for

A small dog who would alert me should anybody come near the house, so that I felt safe!

Lhasa Apso dogs were bred to be sentinels for Monasteries and  Nobleman in Tibet.  They are also known as

'BEARDED LION DOGS'

A cute little dog who was very affectionate and likes being cuddled a lot.

This is very important because there are children in the house.

A dog that loved to play, but not boisterous enough to knock us over!!

A little dog that doesn't require 2 hours strenuous exercise a day!

My research revealed the following:

'The Lhasa Apso is a hardy little dog with a friendly, assertive manner.

Intelligent and lively,

      makes a GOOD PET

Lhasa Apsos are spirited and              DEVOTED LITTLE DOGS, who are

    AFFECTIONATE with their owners.

They can be very obedient and are fairly easy to train.'

'Lhasa Apso dogs are good for living in small houses or apartments.  They can be very active indoors and can make do without a garden.  However they do need a Daily Walk.'

So there you have it!

A small, cute dog that is affectionate and loves being cuddled!

A little dog that loves to play, full of enthusiasm, is not too boisterous.  Alert, trainable, ever so friendly and doesn't need hours of moorland walks.

I had found my perfect match......and I have never regretted it.  I have had Lhasa Apso dogs now for more than 6 years and they fit in with my lifestyle perfectly

because

I DID MY RESEARCH FIRST.

Lhasa Apso dogs

Here's a little history of the origin of Lhasa Apso dogs.

'The Lhasa Apso is believed to have originated in  Tibet in the Himalayan Mountains hundreds of years ago.  It is named after the sacred city of Lhasa.  For years the breed remained solely in Tibet kept by  Monks and Nobles.  Lhasas were used as  watchdogs

in Temples and Monasteries where their barking alerted the owners to any intruders.

Lhasas were considered sacred and, it was thought, brought good luck for their owners.  In 1933 the

dogs spread to other parts of the world thanks to

C. Suydam Cutting, who introduced the first

Lhasas the the USA as gifts from the 13th

Dalai Lama.  Tibet's ruler would present them to visiting foreign diplomats.  The Lhasa Apso

first appeared in Britain in the early 1900's and in the USA in 1930'

Caring for Lhasa Apso dogs

Living in Tibet meant coping with severe weather conditions at a very high altitude.

Consequently  the Lhasa  Apso has developed into a hardy little dog,

Fortunately the Lhasa does not shed hair,  just as well as there can be a lot of it!!

To cope with the harsh Tibetan winters their coat developed to keep the warmth in.

It grows long over all the body and the face.

Show dogs are kept with their hair long.   You can marvel as they trot around the ring with their immaculate coat 'floating' with each movement!

This, however, requires a lot of skill.  Oiling the coat and tying it up

is incredibly difficult and time consuming.

Most pet owners have the cute and fluffy  'teddy bear' clip.

SO LHASA APSOS REQUIRE

REGULAR GROOMING.

Exercise

The Lhasa Apso abolutely loves playing.  Be it roaring round

the house or playing with toys,

they are very playful little friends.

They adore their daily walks as they are always

keen to meet and greet

everybody they see!

As they only have short legs you do not need to take them out

for long, tiring treks.  Short walks are usually sufficient.

Puppies should not be over-exercised.

It is always a good idea when you bring your puppy home

to find a local obedience class and take him or her to

  ' puppy socialisation'

classes.

This is the best way to help them grow up into confident little companions.
